THE NETHERLANDS
ANTILLES Curacao, just 25 miles north of the Venezuelan coast and the largest island of the Netherlands Antilles. Discovered in 1499 by Alonzo de Ojeda. Curacao has a population of app.. 150.000 and is the capital of the Netherlands Antilles, which prior to 1986 consisted of six islands. Aruba, (which left the Antillean constellation in 1986, Bonaire, St.Martin, Saba and Statia. Nowadays after the departure of Aruba, the Netherlands Antilles consists of 5 islands. On the island of Curacao, as is the case in Aruba and Bonaire, Papiamento, our native language is spoken by the population. English, Spanish and Dutch are fluently spoken by the vast majority. St Martin, Saba and Statia, English is spoken by the locals. Willemstad is the Capital of the island of Curacao and has been declared part of the World Heritage from Unesco, The oldest, still practicing Jewish synagogue in the Western Hemisphere. The island's most important financial income is from Industry, commerce and tourism.
BONAIRE Kralendijk is the capital of this beautiful island and is situated on the center and west coast. Rincon is the second most important town. Nikiboko, Antriol, Terra Corra are small villages. Trans-world Radio and Radio Nederland have are present on the island with studios and sender facility. Papiamento is the native language, Dutch, English and Spanish are fluently spoken. Bonaire is famous for its wild Flamingo Park, salt ponds, beaches, and Dive Tourism. Bonaire is really worth to visit and enjoy the Bonaire's tranquility..
